Biography:

 

 

Having served nearly three decades in education serving at the college, high school, middle, and elementary levels, Dr. Zimmer has guided and promoted academic achievement during her tenure at each level. She has served as a principal for 20 years, serving at the elementary and middle levels in three school districts. During her tenure as principal, her leadership was instrumental in creating the first School for the Arts in Chester County School District, first and only NAEYC Accredited School in Richland School District One, and working with the teachers and staff at Stover Middle School to receive Schools to Watch Initial and Redesignation 1 as well as becoming the first school in Kershaw County School District to become an AVID School. Dr. Zimmer also served as Assistant Principal at Sumter High School.

Dr. Zimmer currently serves on the SCASA Executive Board for principals, representing middle school principals for District Five, and serves on the board for Pathways for Healing, a non-profit supporting all genders who are victims of sexual assault.  Dr. Zimmer served as past board member for the South Carolina Arts Commission. She is a member of South Carolina Association of School Administrators, South Carolina Alliance of Black School Educators, National Association of Secondary Principals, National Association of Elementary Principals, Association of Curriculum and Development, National Association of Education, and South Carolina Association of Middle Level Learners. 

Dr. Zimmer has published several articles for the SCASA Palmetto Administrator and AASA Journal on Education, and has presented at national and state conferences. She has also served as a flautist with the Palmetto Concert Band and serves as an evaluator for South Carolina Schools to Watch. 

Dr. Zimmer holds a Bachelor of Music and Flute Performance, Master of Education, Master of Education Administration, Ed.S in Education Administration with Superintendent certification, and a Ph.D in Education Administration all from the University of South Carolina.  She is the proud mother of three boys and two fur babies. She is blessed to serve as the principal of Leslie M. Stover Middle School and strives to ensure that all students reach their fullest potential.

Mrs. Jennifer Hoiland

Mrs. Jennifer Hoiland

Biography:

An experienced educator, Jennifer Hoiland has served as a sixth and seventh teacher at Leslie M. Stover since 2008, where she teaches World History and Geography. She has served on the school’s leadership team since 2010, and currently serves as a Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) Team Lead. 

She earned a bachelor’s degree in education from Sam Houston State University, a master’s degree in instructional accommodations from Francis Marion University, and a master’s degree in education administration from the University of South Carolina.

She is certified in physical education K-12, middle level social studies, and in secondary administration.

Hoiland completed the South Carolina Department of Education Foundations of Leadership course in 2014 and participated in the Kershaw County Developing Administrators Program during the 2022-2023 school year. 

Hoiland, her husband Nathan, and their son reside in Elgin.

Biography:

McCallum joins the Stover Middle administrative staff after working as a special education teacher for more than 20 years. Most recently McCallum taught special education at Camden High School for seven years, serving as the instructional leader for the special education department since 2019. Prior to this, he worked at Pine Grove, Inc., Camden Middle School and Charleston County School District.

He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in special education from the College of Charleston and a Master of Education degree in school leadership from Columbia College. He has done post graduate work at The Citadel, College of Charleston, Charleston Southern University and Columbia College. He is certified in mild and moderate special education and in secondary administration.

McCallum completed the Kershaw County Developing Administrators Program, and was part of the 2019-2020 Kershaw County Leadership Academy cohort. He was named the 2021-2022 Camden High School Teacher of the Year. 

McCallum is a 1991 Lugoff-Elgin High graduate, and he and his wife, Martie Gail McCallum reside in Lugoff.
